HOW TO GERMINATE BIG PINK IPOMOEA PURPUREA SEEDS
Big Pink Morning Glory prefers well-draining soil with a pH of around 6.0-6.8. You can use a general-purpose potting mix or create your soil mix by combining equal parts of sand, peat moss, and vermiculite. The seeds can be sown directly into the ground or started indoors and transplanted later. If starting indoors, sow the seeds about 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost in your area. Sow the seeds about 1/4 inch deep in the soil. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Water the soil gently to avoid disturbing the seeds. Maintain a temperature of around 70°F for optimal germination. They require full sun to partial shade for optimal growth and blooming. Germination usually occurs within 7-14 days. Once the seedlings have sprouted, thin them out to be spaced about 6 inches apart.
CARE FOR BIG PINK IPOMOEA PURPUREA PLANTS AFTER GERMINATION
Big Pink Morning Glory requires at least 6-8 hours of full sun daily for optimal growth and blooming. If you live in a hot climate, provide the plants with some afternoon shade to prevent the leaves from scorching. Water the plants regularly to keep the soil evenly moist. Avoid overwatering, as this can lead to root rot. Water the soil gently to avoid damaging the plants or disturbing the soil. Fertilize the plants every 2-3 weeks with a balanced fertilizer to promote healthy growth and blooming. You can use a general-purpose fertilizer or a fertilizer specifically formulated for flowering plants. As the plants grow, please provide them with a trellis or other support for climbing. This will help the plants grow upright and prevent them from sprawling on the ground.
