HOW TO GROW SUNFLOWER SEEDS

Sunflower seeds can be grown very quickly from seed. Sunflowers require heavy feeding so that the wealthiest blooms can be found on fertilized soils. Ideally, seeds should be planted 15 cm apart in a shallow trench of 2.5 to 5 cm depth, between 2.5 and 5cm deep. Cover the seeds and keep them watered until the seeds sprout. It may sprout in 7 to 10 days. During the first half-meter after the first true leaves appear, thin plants are separated by about half a meter. Sowing should be done between March and May.

CARE AFTER GERMINATION OF SUNFLOWER

It is easy to grow sunflowers since they are heat-tolerant. As a fast-growing plant, sunflowers also resist pests. Plants that have been established need deep, infrequent watering to encourage deep-root development. If your sunflowers like heat, water one or two gallons of water per plant once a week. When the weather is extremely dry or hot, use more water. Sunflower plants may need to be supported when they bloom to not fall over. Supports such as bamboo and stakes are ideal for them.

SUNFLOWER AND ITS USAGE

Unlike daisies, sunflowers have bright yellow petals with red and brown centres that mature into seed heads. Furthermore, you can harvest their seeds and eat them. Bees and birds are attracted to sunflower nectar and seeds, making them suitable for wildlife or pollination gardens. The plant adorns the garden with a face like a sun.
