HOW TO GROW SUMMER CABBAGE FROM SEEDS

It is easy to grow cabbage, but it is a heavy feeder. Before planting:

Add lots of garden compost and well-rotted farmyard manure to your soil.
Sow one seed per cell in a modular tray at about two cm depth in a good quality seed compost in March and April.
Once the seedlings are ready, apply a gentle seaweed fertilizer every week.
For germination, place your trays in your greenhouse, polytunnel, cold frame, or windowsill.

It should take about four weeks for them to start growing.

CARE AFTER GERMINATION OF SUMMER CABBAGE

When two seeds germinate in the same cell, remove the weaker plant. Plant seedlings 2-3 weeks after germination to leave one plant every 75 cm. Space plants 45 cm apart and rows 45 cm apart. Don't soak compost; keep it moist. It's best to avoid letting the seedlings dry to the point where the compost begins to pull away from the edge of the tray. Once the compost has formed a crust on its surface, it can be difficult to wet the seedlings.

USAGE AND BENEFITS OF CABBAGE

With Lemon Butter or Grilled Chicken Kabobs, or Baked Chicken Parmesan, Summer Cabbage would be delicious. As an excellent source of vitamin K and an antioxidant, it is also a powerful food for the brain. You can also use it to increase your defense against conditions such as Alzheimer's. Beta-carotene, vitamin C, and fiber can be found in cabbage. Additionally, it may reduce the risk of some forms of cancer, including colorectal cancer.
