HOW TO GROW RED ASTER FROM SEEDS

They are mixing compost into the soil before planting is good. Some asters may have uneven germination when grown from seeds. Seeds can be grown indoors by sowing them in pots or flats and storing them in the refrigerator for four to six weeks during the winter. Germination occurs when the temperature is cooler. Plant your seeds at least one inch deep in a sunny location in your house. Young plants should be planted outdoors once the danger of frost has passed. Depending on their size and type, Aster plants should be spaced between one and three feet apart. 

CARE FOR RED ASTER AFTER GERMINATION

When planting plants, make sure they have plenty of water. Mulch the soil after planting. It prevents weeds and keeps the soil cool. When it doesn't rain for more than an inch per week during the summer, water your plants regularly. In most cases, however, asters are moisture-sensitive, and if they get too much or too little moisture, they may not flower or lose their lower leaves. If your plants are losing flowers, keep an eye out for stressed plants and try a different watering method. To keep your plants from falling over, encourage tall varieties.

Young leaves of the plant were boiled lightly and eaten as greens, as were the plant's roots. Historically, the Iroquois used aster, bloodroot, and other medicinal plants as laxatives. Aster root was applied topically to treat headaches by the Ojibwa. Goldenrods and asters attract many pollinating insects at the end of the growing season. During the winter, birds and small animals depend on them for food and shelter, eating seeds and hiding in dried stalks.
