HOW TO GROW PURPLE CAULIFLOWER FROM SEEDS
One of the most popular cauliflower varieties is purple cauliflower, which is the easiest to grow and more insect-resistant than other cauliflower varieties. It is generally grown annually, planted in the spring, and takes 60-85 days to produce a crunchy, sweet purple fruit. Start planting seeds within 6-10 weeks before the final frost in your area and plant them when the seedlings have two leaves. Place transplants 18-24 inches apart with 2-3 feet between rows. Cauliflowers need space just like all vegetables. Cauliflower, in general, prefers less water. Please give it a bit of water each week. In addition to being thirsty, cauliflower is a food hog as well.
CARE AFTER GERMINATION OF PURPLE CAULIFLOWER
Compost the soil with 2-3 inches of organic matter before planting. You can add compost to the soil every few weeks after the seedlings have begun to grow until harvest time. Cauliflower also responds well to foliar fertilization with compost tea during the growing season. As summer wanes, it will be time to harvest. Just cut through the stalk under the head. Cauliflower does not like being interrupted in its growth. A change in temperature, moisture, soil nutrition, or insects may cause the plants to produce a head prematurely or ruin an existing one. So be careful about these factors.
PURPLE CAULIFLOWER USES AND HEALTH BENEFITS
Despite its colorful pigments, this cauliflower is perfectly safe to eat. While we prefer white cauliflower, some cultivars are purple, orange, light green, and yellow—no need for concern. Perhaps you purchased a purple plant along with the white ones. The presence of an antioxidant called anthocyanin makes purple cauliflower unique among other varieties of this vegetable. This type of cauliflower is rich in anthocyanin, reducing inflammation and preventing heart disease.
