HOW TO GROW SPEARMINTS FROM SEEDS

Spearmint grows best in partial shade with well-draining, rich, moist soil. It is easiest to grow from plants, but you can also sow seeds once the ground warms up in the spring. Seeds should be sticky until they germinate, and plants should be spaced 1 foot apart. Spearmint takes off quickly once planted, and it can also take over quickly. To avoid pulling out spearmint runners constantly, some gardeners grow the plants in hanging baskets or containers. You can also plant spearmint in a five-gallon pot with the bottom cut out if you want to grow it in the garden. Your spearmint plants will not be able to invade other areas of the garden due to the runners.

CARE FOR SPEARMINT SEEDS AFTER GERMINATION

Taking care of spearmint is similar to taking care of most mints. Spearmint can be very easily taken care of. The roots of mint plants need to be kept cool and moist by mulching annually. It is best to fertilize potting mint with a liquid fertilizer once a month during the growing season. Make sure you divide your plants every two years to keep them healthy. Regularly prune your potted plants to make them look healthy and attractive. You should place potted spearmint in a sunny window if your area has very cold winters.

USES AND HEALTH BENEFITS OF SPEARMINT

With its refreshing taste, spearmint can help keep your mouth feeling clean. In addition, it has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which can improve dental health. In addition, chewing helps clean the teeth and mouth as well. The oil and leaves are used as medicines. A variety of digestive disorders can be treated with spearmints, such as gas, indigestion, nausea, diarrhea, upper gastrointestinal tract spasms, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), bile duct, and gallbladder swelling (inflammation), and gallstones.
