HOW TO GROW PORTLIM ASPARAGUS SEEDS 

Asparagus is a labor-intensive crop. So that mature ferns do not shade other vegetables, Asparagus should plant them on the north or east side of the garden. Fertile soil is needed to grow Asparagus. Fertilize with lime if it has not been done earlier. If you are sowing seeds outdoors from March to early May, sow seeds into seedbeds in January or sow seeds indoors in trays or pots after soaking in water for 24 hours. Those plants that are strong enough to handle are thinned out. It will start germination in 14 - 20 days.

CARE AFTER GERMINATION OF ASPARAGUS

Growing Asparagus can take three years after its seed is sown. One-year-old crowns need two years of growth before they can be harvested, and those that are two years old need only one year. Be patient in the first year of cutting by limiting spear harvesting to 10 days. Asparagus will then build strength and reward you with higher yields after that. Cutting is allowed for two weeks during the second year. In the following weeks, harvesting can last six weeks. Stop cutting when spears start to get thinner. Make sure they are not lighter than a pencil.
