HOW TO GROW WHITE AFRICAN MARIGOLD FROM SEEDS
These annuals require sun or partial shade as well as well-draining soil. Container-grown African marigolds can also be grown in the garden. Several weeks before planting, you should prepare the soil approximately six inches deep by removing weeds and grass. Composted or other organic materials can provide additional nutrients as well. Germination occurs between 20 and 22 degrees celsius, and emergence occurs between seven and fourteen days after planting.
CARE FOR WHITE AFRICAN MARIGOLDS AFTER GERMINATION
For African marigolds, clay or dry soil are fine, but they prefer moist, well-draining soil. Watering regularly helps to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. The soil will not drain if puddles or a squishy texture appear six hours after watering, and your flowers may die. When plants are drowned, their roots rot, and their leaves turn brown and die. Make sure your marigolds remain compact to keep them from spreading out.
USES AND BENEFITS OF WHITE AFRICAN MARIGOLD
Externally, African marigold is used to treat sores, ulcers, eczema, conjunctivitis, rheumatism, and sore eyes. Using a paste made from the leaves, boils, carbuncles, and earaches can be treated externally. The herb is diuretic, carminative, and vermifuge. It can be used in decoction for treating colds and mumps. You can prepare marigold tea from dried flowers. Before brewing the tea, you can add a tablespoon of dried flowers to boiling water before drying the flower petals at a low temperature.
