HOW TO GROW POMEGRANATE FROM SEEDS
It is best to start sowing pomegranate seeds indoors, as the seedlings will be ready to go outdoors in early spring. You can either plant in pots or sow directly outside. A pot of four to six inches in length should be filled with a mixture of two parts soil and one part coarse silica sand. Adding sand will improve drainage, which is important for this plant because soggy soil can lead to root rot. Press one seed into each pot about a centimeter deep in the soil.
HOW TO CARE FOR POMEGRANATE PLANTS AFTER GERMINATION
Using a biodegradable pot would be the best option as you won't disturb the roots when growing the plants in their permanent residence. A small amount of water moistens the soil just enough. Keep the soil moist but not wet until the seedlings have germinated. Seeds need a warm temperature of 20-25 degrees Celcius to germinate. Exposure to direct sunlight should be increased gradually.
POMEGRANATE AND ITS HEALTH BENEFITS
Consuming whole pomegranates can reduce inflammation and protect the body from various diseases, such as type 2 diabetes and obesity. In addition to vitamins C, K, and potassium, they are also a good source of many other nutrients in this fruit. Approximately 50% of your recommended daily intake (DRI) of vitamin C can be obtained by eating one pomegranate.
