HOW TO GROW MARJORAM FROM SEEDS
Marjoram seeds can be started indoors from February to April in plug trays. Direct sowing on the ground is less reliable than starting indoors. The best results can be achieved by maintaining a constant soil temperature of 15°C. Seeds should germinate in a week or two. The seeds of marjoram are dusty, so handle them with care. Use sterilized seed starting mix to prepare your containers or trays and water, then mix thoroughly. Then try to distribute the tiny seeds evenly on the surface of the wet soil. Avoid burying the seeds. During seedling growth, reduce watering so that the soil is only damp, not soaked.
CARE AFTER GERMINATION OF MARJORAM
Sun and warmth are the best conditions for growing. Leave a gap of 25 cm between plants when thinned or transplanted. Cut back after flowering to prevent them from getting straggly. As autumn approaches, divide a few to keep indoors during the winter. For the rest of your plants, trim their growth to about 6cm from the soil. Water regularly, but do not overwater. Keep plants trimmed throughout the growing season by cutting the leaves. In order to stimulate new growth, cut back the plants to the ground when flower buds appear. Marjoram is a perennial plant that can be left in the ground in southern climates, Zone 9 and above.
