HOW TO GROW SOURSOP TREE FROM SEEDS
A soursop tree is typically grown from seed, unlike most fruit trees. You will receive healthy seeds from Garden Paradise Seeds. For most satisfactory results, soak them in warm water overnight and plant them 1 to 2 inches deep in a sterile seed-starting mix. Keeping the mix moist should ensure germination within two weeks or a month. When moving an outdoor tree, make sure it has been outdoors for at least six months. Soursop seedlings should be planted in full to partial sun and well-drained, slightly acidic soil protected from strong winds.
CARE AFTER GERMINATION OF SOURSOP
Seedlings should be planted about twenty feet away from buildings or other plantings and heavily mulched with compost to keep the soil moist since the roots are shallow. Choose soursop grafted onto pond apple if your site is subject to flooding since soursop cannot tolerate standing water. After the tree's trunk diameter reaches two to four inches, you can prune it back to 30 inches tall. As the central leader, choose the most vertical shoot, and three or four other shoots are evenly spaced around the trunk to serve as branches.
SOURSOP USES AND HEALTH BENEFITS
The guanabana is best eaten raw after cutting it in half and scooping out the flesh with a spoon (you'll need to work around the seeds or spit them out as you go). Because of its stringy texture, soursop will be challenging to cut up into cubes, hence the requirement to scoop it out with a spoon. Soursop fruit and Graviola leaves are used in herbal medicine to treat stomach ailments, fever, parasitic infections, hypertension, and rheumatism. It's used as a sedative, as well.
