HOW TO GROW RED COSMOS FLOWER FROM SEEDS

Seedling trays or small pots should be filled with compost, seeds of good quality, or sieved seeds. Firm down the compost lightly by using a wood block or your hand. The seeds can be sown directly on the compost surface, one seed per cell if possible. Place a small pinch of seeds in each cell, cover with a centimeter-thick layer of compost or vermiculite, moisten with water, drain, and label. Alternatively, it can be covered with a plastic bag or placed in a heated propagator. When seedlings have two pairs of leaves, transplant them into separate pots.

CARE FOR RED COSMOS AFTER GERMINATION

Cosmos doesn't require soil preparation. As a result, they prefer soil that isn't too rich because rich soil will promote foliage rather than blooms. It is also essential that the soil drains well. Cosmo flowers can tolerate both hot and dry weather. They can even endure drought. They will self-seed in your garden. Because of their tall stature, these plants may require staking in some cases. You can also grow them against a fence to provide support. Over-watering and over-fertilizing your cosmos may result in fewer flowers. Keep your cosmos moist, but don't overdo it.

USES AND HEALTH BENEFITS OF RED COSMOS FLOWER

The number of pollinators and predator insects in your garden that help manage pests and pollinate your plants is never enough. Among the beneficial insects attracted to Cosmos flowers are lacewings, parasitic wasps, tachinid flies, and hoverflies, which provide pollination and feeding on pest insects. Cosmos bipinnatus is the most commonly found species in the Cosmos family and is not edible. It is not harmful to children or pets, it is safe to grow around them.
