INSTRUCTION FOR SOWING MANDRAKE MANDRAGORA

Mandrake needs very light and porous soil with a high proportion of sand or gravel. Bringing mandrake seeds to life is not easy and takes patience. Consequently, a simulation of a cold period is needed before the mandrake seeds will germinate. To prevent the seeds from growing mold, sand, or sterile Cactus substrate, kept in the refrigerator at 5 degrees Celsius should be used. In autumn, you can direct sow it.

It is also possible to sow seeds in pots in October as an alternative to direct sowing. Its the best to keep them outdoors during the winter in an area that is protected. In this case, the substrate mustn't dry out. The germination can take up to 12 months. After the seeds have germinated, expose the containers to fluorescent lights or grow lights. It would be best not to depend on direct sunlight from a window, as it might be too cool at night or too hot in the daytime. The roots of the mandrake should be large enough to survive outdoors once the roots have grown.
