HOW TO GROW FROM SEEDS PEPPERMINT

Seeds for Peppermint should be started indoors in late spring, using a compacted soilless mix and drainage holes in seed trays or small pots. It would help if you did not use a potting mix that contains fertilizer because the fertilizer's chemicals will burn the plants and their roots. Seed starting mixes can be purchased from professional growers or made at home by combining peat moss, perlite, and vermiculite. Ensure the excess water runs out of the drainage holes by thoroughly watering the medium. Mix peppermint seeds lightly into the mix and scatter them on the surface. It's best not to cover seedlings with the mixture as they germinate best when exposed to light. Mist the growing medium every day to keep it moist. Typically, seedlings grow in 10 to 16 days. 

CARE AFTER GERMINATION OF PEPPERMINT

Make sure to thin and transplant when the seedlings are 2 inches high. Begin seeds indoors before the last frost, and plant outdoors only afterward. Aim for a distance of 12 to 20 inches between plants. Remove all weeds and loosen the soil by placing it in a location that receives some shade in the afternoon. Containers on decks and patios look great with Peppermint. It would help if you used a large container to give the plant room to spread. Cut any trailing stems that touch the ground below the pot to prevent it from growing roots where it touches the ground.
