HOW TO GROW FROM SEEDS GREEK OREGANO

It is better to sow seeds from May to September, but they can be grown all around the year. Soil that is loose and well-draining is ideal for growing oregano. Oregano prefers a soil pH of 6.0 to 7.0. In well-drained soil, oregano can grow. Start sowing oregano indoors at least four weeks before the average last frost date. The best germination rate of oregano seed is reached at 70°F; sowing the seed at this temperature will maximize growth. Germination happens most quickly when seeds are in the light and covered with cheesecloth. Transplant seedlings out after the last frost. Plant oregano seeds in your garden at the end of spring, when the last frost usually occurs. Temperatures should be at least 45°F in the soil.

CARE AFTER GERMINATION OF GREEK OREGANO

Water is essential for Oregano Plants. As it grows, give the oregano regular, even watering. The new plant will benefit from only occasional watering once established. Moist soil will cause oregano to be less flavorful. You can spray oregano 2 to 3 times during the growing season with compost tea or liquid seaweed extract. Keep oregano roots cool by mulching them around with old compost during hot weather. Keep oregano pinched back to induce bushy growth and for best aroma and flavor; flowering will result in a loss of leaf flavor. The summer is a great time to prune your plants nearly to the ground, stimulating new growth. Replant clumps every three years, dividing every three years.
