HOW TO GROW DOUBLE RED MORNING GLORY FLOWER FROM SEEDS
It's optional to start seeds indoors before your last frost date, but you should do so between four and six weeks before your frost date. Other than that, you can plant the seeds outside. Scarification speeds up the germination process for morning glory seeds, which are notoriously difficult to germinate. Once they have been rubbed between two pieces of coarse sandpaper for a few seconds, soak them overnight. The seeds should be planted about a quarter-inch deep and a few inches apart. After sprouting, it is imperative to maintain a moist environment.
CARE FOR DOUBLE RED MORNING GLORY AFTER GERMINATION
Morning Glory (Sunrise Serenade) plants thrive in moist but well-draining soil. In case the vines are not doing well, it is still possible to amend the soil. Water your morning glory plants about one inch a week, and mulch around the roots to keep them moist. You can reduce the watering schedule once the plant has established itself (and in the winter) so it uses less water as it grows. Despite its hardiness, early morning glory tolerates both cold and hot conditions.
USES AND BENEFITS OF DOUBLE RED MORNING GLORY
Morning Glory has been used as a diuretic and expectorant in Asian and Mesoamerican cultures for centuries. Herbalists have also used the leaves to relieve headaches with tea brewed from them. Furthermore, this plant is used to treat abdominal disorders, anthelmintics, headaches and much more.
