HOW TO GROW MEXICAN CUCUMBERS FROM SEED

The Seeds of Mexican cucumbers should be planted ten inches apart in circles of about six seeds each. Your seeds should be planted about two inches apart within each circle. Plant at the depth recommended on the seed packet, usually about one inch. Sprinkle the ground lightly with water. When they are at least four inches tall, thin seedlings to ten inches apart. Cut the rest of the seedlings to the ground and keep the strongest with garden scissors. Place cages around the seedlings. The Stakes should be positioned on either side of each cage for extra support.

CARE FOR MEXICAN CUCUMBERS AFTER GERMINATION

To conserve water and suppress weeds, mulch between cages. The vines should be watered at least once a week, checking between waterings to ensure the soil is moist to a depth of at least three inches. The vines should be side-dressed about six weeks after planting. Mulch should be set aside, and compost should be placed in rings around the cages. The area should be watered to allow nutrients to enter the soil, and then mulch should be raked into place.
