HOW TO GROW BLUE SAUSAGE FRUIT TREE FROM SEEDS
Remove the fleshy coating from the seeds by soaking them in water for 24-48 hours and rubbing the seeds gently with a towel or a piece of cloth. Fill a container with a well-draining potting mix that contains perlite, vermiculite, or sand to promote drainage. Plant the seeds about 1/2 inch deep into the potting mix and cover them with a thin layer of soil. Growing conditions include soil composed of clay, loam, or sand and full sun in sunset zones 16 to 24. Place the container in a warm, bright location that receives indirect sunlight. Wait for the seeds to germinate, which should take 4 to 6 weeks. Once the seedlings have developed two sets of true leaves, transplant them into larger pots or containers with nutrient-rich soil.
CARE FOR BLUE SAUSAGE FRUIT TREE AFTER GERMINATION
Blue Sausage Fruit Trees need regular watering, especially during the hot and dry summer months. Keep the soil moist, but avoid overwatering as this can cause root rot. Use a balanced, slow-release fertilizer that contains equal amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. They are sensitive to frost and cold temperatures and may suffer damage if exposed to prolonged periods of cold. Move them indoors during the winter months. The trees require full sunlight to thrive, so make sure to plant them in a location where they will receive at least six hours of direct sunlight each day. Watch out for pests such as aphids, mealybugs, and spider mites. Treat them with neem oil or insecticidal soap
